Design & Profile
The Art Deco plain Lighting cornice 140x160mm is a medium profile designed to provide modest and medium rooms with a clear architectural boundary. Formed around a central cove with stepped detailing above and below, the profile sits almost equally across the wall and ceiling to create a balanced, structured outline. This medium cornice art deco profile, often referred to as coving, includes a modified top edge developed to work alongside wall-mounted LEDs. When offset from the ceiling and paired with LEDs, the cove and stepped combination can produce an upward wash of light that emphasises the shape of the profile and adds a refined sense of ambience to the room.
Art Deco Influence
This LED coving reflects the smooth curves and controlled geometry characteristic of the Art Deco movement. The central cove forms a soft transitional line while the stepped edges reinforce the period influence with measured precision. Even without lighting, the profile introduces gentle shadowing that helps organise the upper portion of the room. When lighting is introduced, the Art Deco styling becomes more pronounced, giving the interior a subtle sense of depth that suits both traditional and modern schemes. The understated curvature allows the design to sit comfortably within calm, structured spaces where clarity and proportion are important.
Craftsmanship & Material
Every length of the Art Deco plain Lighting cornice 140x160mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk. Traditional methods ensure the cove and stepped details remain clean and consistent along the full run whilst forming a practical coving for LED lights. The fibrous plaster construction provides dependable stability once installed and decorated. The modified top edge is incorporated during casting to ensure the profile remains cohesive while supporting the crisp shadow line associated with lighting-led interiors.
Suitability
This cornice LED profile works particularly well in cinema rooms, games rooms, gyms, media rooms and modern kitchens. The Art Deco plain Lighting cornice 140x160mm supports coving for led lights by offering a structured architectural base that enhances atmosphere without dominating the space. Its balanced proportions and period styling allow it to blend seamlessly into both contemporary and traditionally influenced interiors while preserving the refined character associated with British Mouldings’ plasterwork.
