Design & Profile
The Georgian ornate plaster cornice 73x145mm is a medium profile designed to sit mainly on the wall, giving the room a distinctly vertical architectural emphasis. As a medium cornice, often referred to as coving, it features a fluted frieze design that introduces structured linear detail while maintaining the balance expected of Georgian proportion. With a 73mm projection and a 145mm depth, the profile brings a clear downward presence that helps organise the upper wall without imposing excessive visual weight. Its measured lines support interiors that benefit from disciplined shaping and subtle decorative rhythm.
Georgian Influence
This Georgian style coving reflects the classical order associated with Georgian interiors, where architectural elements often took cues from fluted columns and organised decorative frameworks. The vertical fluting provides a regular sequence of shadows that enhances the perimeter and offers a calm, structured appearance. This design pairs comfortably with painted timberwork, sash joinery and clean-lined modern furnishings, allowing it to integrate into both heritage and contemporary schemes.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each length of the Georgian ornate plaster cornice 73x145mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk. Traditional casting and careful hand-finishing help preserve the clarity of the fluted detailing while maintaining clean edges along the supporting lines of this decorative cornice moulding. Fibrous plaster offers the stability required for crisp linear detail, ensuring the fluted pattern retains its definition once installed and decorated.
Suitability
This ornate cornice suits living rooms, hallways and feature spaces where a vertically emphasised architectural line enhances the overall design. The Georgian ornate plaster cornice 73x145mm works effectively in interiors that favour structure and classical proportion, offering a finishing detail that contributes order and coherence. Its refined shaping and disciplined geometry make it a dependable choice for both period-inspired and modern rooms that rely on controlled decorative elements to strengthen the architectural character.
