Design & Profile
The Georgian plaster cornice 165x105mm is a large profile designed to sit further onto the ceiling than the wall, giving small to medium rooms a clearly structured architectural outline. As a large plaster coving profile, often referred to as cornice, it combines an ogee shape with a defined step to create a clean, ordered junction at the ceiling line. With a 105mm depth and a 165mm projection, the profile provides proportion and clarity, offering a balanced presence suited to interiors requiring stronger visual definition without excessive ornamentation.
Georgian Influence
This Georgian style coving reflects the considered shaping typical of Georgian interiors, where curved forms such as ogees worked alongside simple stepped details to create harmonious ceiling boundaries. The combination of these elements produces soft shadowing that supports the overall structure of the room while maintaining a restrained classical tone. This balanced approach suits properties seeking a traditional outline as well as modern refurbishments that benefit from subtle historical reference. The profile aligns naturally with Georgian design principles, giving designers a dependable Georgian-inspired option.
Craftsmanship & Material
Each length of the Georgian plaster cornice 165x105mm is produced in fibrous plaster at our workshop in Norfolk. Traditional casting and hand-finishing ensure the ogee curve and step remain consistent along the run. This method is well suited to Georgian cornice mouldings, where authentic materials and reliable design underpin long-term visual quality. Fibrous plaster provides stability, helping the profile maintain its geometry once installed and decorated.
Suitability
This period cornice suits living rooms, hallways and bedrooms where clear shaping strengthens the architectural flow. The Georgian plaster cornice 165x105mm offers a refined finishing detail suitable for both heritage settings and modern interiors requiring controlled classical influence. Its structured combination of ogee and step, balanced projection and reliable shaping make it a practical choice for rooms needing organisation, proportion and a subtly expressive Georgian profile.
