Wanstead
This restoration project was for a private client in Wanstead who approached British Mouldings looking to restore their existing cornice to its former beauty and replicate it elsewhere throughout the home.
The original cornice had lost all of its detail due to years of painting and the detail was indistinguishable. Our team retrieved a series of samples from the site and brought them back to our workshop in Norfolk to begin the restoration process. The paint was carefully removed using various techniques revealing the true original detail buried beneath. Using the newly sharpened samples our team then rebuilt a working mould tool to replicate the original detail.
The cornice was manufactured at our workshop and installed by our skilled fitters alongside ceiling roses to complement. The finished installation with restored detail on the cornice was a vast improvement on the originals, adding grandeur to all of the main reception and bedrooms.
Specialist decorators then moved in to apply a unique finish to the ceiling and cornice, creating a striking contrast that further highlights the cornice.
